Facing your fears head on….you are braver than you think
Do you ever wish you could do something but think it is too far out of your comfort zone? I do constantly. The people who are so comfortable in their own skin just blow me away. They don’t seem to be afraid of anything. I wonder if it’s a specific gene they have that I don’t?
If you know me personally you know I am a motivational speaker in the weight loss Industry for 18 years and I am a wellness advocate for Doterra. Both require me to stand up in front of sometimes 100+ people and be an expert. Would you be surprised that my BIGGEST FEAR is public speaking? Terrifies me! So much so that I actually backed out of training 3 times before finally going for it. I do it 7 days a week now. But I have a serious passion for what I do. I get to change people’s lives every single day.
When I started thinking about it, I figured out where my fear is and why I can do my job on a daily basis. I am constantly educating myself in my fields so I know what I am talking about. If you asked me to stand up in front of 100 people and talk about rocket science I would have a huge panic attack.
Now this is not to say I always knew what I was talking about but I learned to listen and learn. Not claiming to know it all gains you tremendous respect. Before I started speaking I thought I had to have all the answers. I have found that if I don’t and am honest about that most people would rather give you the time to find the correct answer.
So I have shared with you what I am afraid of? What are you afraid of? What is holding you back? I see people fearful in so many areas of their lives. Afraid to be successful. Scared to be turned down. As they get closer to their goals they get more fearful.
So I think the 1st question is What exactly is the worst thing that could happen? How likely is it that, that will happen? How will I feel if that does happen? Will the world end?
2nd question is what is the best possible outcome? How likely is this that it will happen? How will this make me feel? I promise you that these answers are going to be must stronger and more desired and that you will see these will drive you to go after it. Because the likelihood of a positive outcome is ugh higher than a negative one.
So thicken that skin and learn to take no for an answer or face failure with your head held high and KNOW that the outcome will seldom be a bad one. The more confident you are about what you want the more likely you are to achieve it. Be strong~Be Brave~Be Fearless.
