My most wanted Christmas present
I was so excited when my weighted blanket was under the tree. I had heard so many great things about them. Now I had my own. My family thought I was a little nutty for wanting one. “It’s so heavy” “what if you get stuck under it?” “Isn’t it going too be too hot” I said no it’s going to o be amazing. I had talked to so many people who loved theirs.

I wanted one because I wanted the deep restful sleep. Stop the anxiety and anxious feeling and just relax.
How they work
Weighted blankets are heavier than other blankets and purchasing a blanket that is around 8% to 12% your body weight is recommended. Gravity helps the body to relax, working on your nervous system and stimulating the feeling a hug or being held.
The weighted blanket will provide deep pressure touch stimulation. Deep pressure causes the body to produce serotonin and endorphins, the chemicals needed to naturally relax and become calm.
So why don’t I love my blanket?
First, I want to make it clear this is my experience. I wanted to love this blanket so much, and the 1st 2 nights I thought I did. But then I realized all the ill effects I was having was due to the blanket. 1st I was exhausted, I thought I was sleeping deep but think I was struggling with staying a sleep.
2nd I was so sore. Now mind you I have serious muscle tightness throughout my body (wound tight) and a disease that has hardened my chest wall. and when I woke up in the morning I hurt I mean really hurt. Took me a few days but I figured since you do get so very relaxed you literally don’t move and if I don’t move I stiffen up. (Mom I know you told me, I appreciate you not saying “I Told you so”) When I did wake up It takes a minute to figure out why its hard to move. My elbows and shoulders were killing me. Now I know that was from pulling on the blanket to move.
Back to the store it goes……
So rather than struggle more I decided he weighted blanket is not part of my have to haves. Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying it is not for you. I just wanted to share my experience. I will say I think that if you are going to get one you should choose the 8% to start. So if you weigh 150 choose a 12 lb blanket. Thanks for letting me share. I would love to hear your stories.
